Metro Start Screen within Desktop Mode in Windows 8

Microsoft has launched Windows 8 operating system with so many new features. In this operating system you have already faced the Metro Style Start menu. You have noticed that you have to leave your desktop for opening any application. Many users does not like this behavior and some of users have already changed start menu look to old Windows 7 start menu style with third party software.

Some users who are still using this metro start menu and waiting for some modification or some other good tool for that there is a great news. A poster at Neowin has come up with an interesting tool that lets you open the start screen without leaving the desktop. When you click on the Windows flag after running the tool, the start screen will appear at the top or bottom of your desktop.
Start Menu Modifier will allow you to open the start screen at the bottom or the top of your desktop, when you click on the Windows flag key.

You no longer required to leave your desktop for opening any tool or application from the start menu.
To scroll the tiles, you can use the scroller or use the arrow keys. The search works too, and you can simply start typing your query and hit Enter, and the search bar and the results will be displayed on the desktop itself.
Through this tool one can set the location of the start screen as well as fix a hotkey. You can also launch start menu on toggle and make the tool run at startup. There is however no option to set the width of the start screen panel which appears on the desktop.

The freeware is still under development, but you can download the latest version from the link mentioned at Neowin below.
