Send Any File With Gmail
You may have already got the experience that when you want to upload any .exe, .bat, .dll like executable file then Gmail refuses to upload the file. You may think why? Simple reason, it may contain viruses, hence Gmail refuses to upload such type of files. You cannot send or receive emails with exe, dll, ocx, com or bat extension attachments even if they are sent in a zipped (.zip, .tar, .tgz, .taz, .z, .gz) format then Gmail refuses to attach. Now suppose you have to send a .exe file to your boss. And you are not able to send .exe file to your boss, because Gmail doesn't allow you to upload .exe file as attachment.
Now, What you will do?
You can send executable like .exe, .bat and many other types of files via Gmail by two ways :
1. RAR - You may send your executable file via Gmail by compressing it. Just download the setup file of winrar software and install it in your system. Now, compress your file in .RAR format and Gmail allows to upload .RAR file.
2. Change the extension - The second way to sending the executable file to your boss or friend by simply changing the extension of your file.
Steps to change the extension of your file :
Open Windows Explorer by pressing Ctrl + E from keyboard or just open my computer / computer or open any folder and now go to Tools menu>Folder Options>View, under Advanced settings, uncheck “Hide extensions for known file types” and click Apply, OK to save changes.
Now you will be able to observe all files with extensions like program files extension are .exe, batch file extensions are like .bat or .cmd etc. Now replace exe or other extensions with txt or doc extension so the program file becomes program.txt or program.doc, click yes to Rename warning showing “changing file name extension makes file unusable”. Though we changed the executable file to text or word document format, you can observe the size of file remains same as that of original exe file.
This is the trick which will make possible to you to upload your file to Gmail without any third party software. Now when you will attach your file to Gmail then its will read in different format not as executable, and you will be able to upload the executable or other format files via Gmail.
Now tell your boss or friend to the change the file extension and then use.
